I am attempting to trace my father, William George Bond's service history. On my birth certificate, he was listed as and A/B serving aboard "HMS Emerald" in April (year of my birth). After WW2, I am told he joined the Merchant navy, sailing with Cunard from Liverpool to mainly to USA. I have no other records-documentation belonging to him. The Laurentic was a British ocean liner of the White Star Line and was built in the same ship yard as the Titanic (Harland & Wolff, Belfast ). At the onset of World War I she had been converted to an armed merchant cruiser.
